Imphal, February 27 2016 :
Expressing strong suspicion and
disapproval over the conduct
of Deputy Chief Minister
Gaikhangam who is also in-
charge of Home Dept, 20
Congress MLAs have deci-
ded to skip Assembly session
and stage sit-in if no action is
initiated against him by
tomorrow.
20 Congress MLAs held
a meeting today in connec-
tion with the suspension of
five State Police personnel
over the Naga Students' Fe-
deration (NSF)- State Police
commandos row, according
to a reliable source.
The source said that the
meeting of 20 Congress leg-
islators held at the official
quarters of Heingang AC
MLA N Biren strongly con-
demned the suspension of
five police commandos.
The meeting deliberated
on the statement of the Dy
CM who, on the floor of the
Assembly, categorically
stated that no Manipur po-
lice personnel harassed or
assaulted or abused with
communal words any team
of the Naga Students' Fed-
eration (NSF).
The Dy CM
also told some Congress leg-
islators the same thing
during casual talks.
The meeting expressed
shock over the suspension
of five police personnel even
after denying the involve-
ment of any police personnel
in assaulting the NSF del-
egates in the Assembly.
The Congress MLAs
also expressed strong mis-
giving over the conduct of
Gaikhangam as the Home
Minister, the source said.
Stating that the five com-
mando personnel who frisk-
ed an NSF eam were put under suspension although no such action was taken
against the personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood,
the MLAs questioned the integrity of Gaikhangam in this connec-
tion.
Stating that the Deputy Chief Minister had conceded to
NSF's pressure, the MLAs demanded the Chief Minister to
hold a CLP meeting tomorrow to initiate action against
Gaikhangam.
A written representation signed by 20 MLAs
has been submitted to the Chief Minister today.
The MLAs cautioned that they would not take part the
Assembly session and stage a protest at State Assembly gate
on Monday if action is not taken against Gaikhangam.
