ADC polls in October

Imphal, August 16 2011:
Election for the ten ADC constituencies of Ukhrul and Senapati district which were left out in the last ADC elections would be held in October this year.
Draft electoral rolls for these constituencies have been already released.
A source in the State Election Commission informed that draft electoral rolls for the left out ADC constituencies was released today in accordance with a notification issued by the Hills Department.
The ADC constituencies scheduled to go to polls in October this year are Tungam Khullen, Punanamei, Song Song, Maram, Lairoiching, Chawanamei Khullen, Tadubi and Phaibung Khullen in Senapati district.
In Ukhrul, Chingai and Shangshak ADC constituencies would go to polls on the same day.
Notably, following the ADC elections held last year with support of the Union Home Ministry, the UNC declared severance of all ties with the State Government.
Since then, the UNC has demanding an alternative arrangement for Naga people of Manipur outside the purview of the State Government.
