Imphal, August 16 2011:
In order to provide immediate compensation to flood affected peoples, CPI will be bringing up the matter for discussion in the upcoming assembly session, said Chairman, MANIDCO MLA N Mangi today.
Speaking in a public meeting held at Chairel Mangjil Community Hall, Mangi said that the relief materials distributed to flood affected areas of his constituency were sanctioned by the state government.
However, he also bought many materials since the relief materials sanctioned by the government were not enough for the population affected by the flood.
In the recent flood, 110 houses in Borayangbi Awang Leikai, 44 houses in Borayangbi Thongkha, 11 houses in Khulakpat, 14 houses in Sandangkhong, seven houses in Laitoubi, seven houses in Leingangtabi, 44 houses in Pombikhok, eight houses in Tangjeng, 34 houses in Napat and 13 houses in Chingyapat were affected, he said.
The affected 325 houses were identified after inspection visit to the affected areas along with Pradhans and SDC Bishnupur.
Government provided 22 bags of rice only for the affected people.
He bought 70 bags of rice from his own money and distributed to the affected people.
There was no misappropriation of the relief materials distributed to the flood affected people.
Public leaders Priyokumar, L Ningthoujao and L Tomba also supported Mangi and told people that the MLA did not do any wrong while distributing the relief materials.
