Imphal, February 16, 2013:
The Zeliangrong Youth Front, Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (ZYF-AMN) took strong exception on the February 12 incident of Lilong area where miscreants attacked the villagers of Chaobok Zeliangrong village.
According to the ZYF, at around 7:30 pm on the day, some villagers of the Chaobok Zeliangrong village were travelling in an Alto car when unidentified persons numbering around 10 armed with iron rods, sticks, stones and wooden clubs signalled the vehicle occupants to halt near Lilong Police Station.
The Chaobok villagers did not pay heed sensing some danger.
As the car passed-by the miscreants started attacking the villagers damaging the car, alleged the ZYF.
Had the car obliged to the signal to stop, what would have been the outcome?," wondered the ZYF.
The windshield and the roof of the car have been damaged in the attack, according to the ZYF.
Suspecting that the incident was a pre-planned one, the ZYF said the attackers could have been a gang of car lifters.
According to the ZYF, one man suspected to be a car lifter was found killed near the Chaobok village on January 29.Since then the villagers learnt that members of the gang were planning to attack the villagers," alleged the ZYF.
Condemning the incident, the ZYF termed it as uncivilised and said such incident could create trouble among different communities.
The ZYF then urged the concerned authorities to book the attackers.
