Ukhrul protests blast, Medical store attacked

Even as the people of Ukhrul today staged sit-in-protest against the bomb attack at the official residence of the district's Deputy Commissioner, unidentified persons carried out grenade attack at a medical store located in Thangal Bazar, Imphal this afternoon.
Denouncing the bomb blast at DC bungalow, Ukhrul on February 14 last by unidentified miscreants, employees of all departments in the Mini Secretariat jointly organized sit in protest in the office premises today.
The demonstrators expressed shock over the incidents while also vehemently condemning the act as barbaric and irrational.
A sense of insecurity gripped the employees who staged the sit-in today.
They demanded the responsible group/party to clarify their reasons and intention, through which the public can also witness his (DC)'s failure, if any, and inefficiency done to the public.
Normal office procedure was affected at the Mini Secretariat due to the sit-in.
On the otherhand, a pharmacy of Thangal Bazar was attacked by some unidentified persons by hurling a bomb at about 2.15 pm today.
However, the bomb failed to go off and as such there was no casualty.
Yet, some window panes of racks used in the pharmacy were shattered.
Proprietor of the pharmacy Rajenkumar Jain maintained that there was no case of monetary demand from any organisation.
He said that he had no idea about the identity of the assailants.
Later, the bomb was retrieved by police.
