Imphal, February 16, 2013:
Churachandpur District Disabled Union (CDDC) has stated that it is painful to witness the discord within the disabled communities that has made its ugly appearance of late in several State dailies.
The CDDU is of the opinion that any effort taken up for the benefit of the community deserves whole-hearted support as the State is far behind others in addressing issues to uplift the State's disabled community.
In a statement, President of CDDC T Sianmuanthang observed that to be on par with counterparts elsewhere in the country a concerted, selfless and dedicated effort is what is needed.
The CDDU is of the opinion that no issue is to obscure to solve through the time tested discussion over the table.
And it is still not too late to settle any difference, if there is one.
"We are also of the opinion that it is high time for those championing the cause of the community now and in the past to reflect upon ourselves and identify the reason (s) that put the disabled community in poor light.
The task we have in hand is hefty and only our concerted efforts sustained by the unceasing support of the public, will only take us to the desired objective", he said, while appealing to the Government and the General Public that the cry for opportunities and privileges of the disabled community be heard as they deserve no less.
"As for the bandh being called by general strike, our hearts are with them.
They stand for our cause, we are with them.
Yet we have no intention to disrupt the normal public life.
Hence, we avow moral support to it", Sianmuanthang said.
