Kangpokpi, December 09 2017:
Students of Eklavya Model Residential School, Gamnom-Sapormeina, Kangpokpi District are facing possibility of missing the upcoming examination, allegedly due to shortage of funds which compelled the Parents' Association to draw the immediate attention of the State Government .
In a press conference held yesterday at Gamnom Sapormeina, President of the Parents' Association, Helen Kipgen, said that Eklavya Model Residential School is purely designed to uplift the tribal students in the State and it did well enough, considering the achievements of the school .
He said that the school has been functioning without a single penny from the State Government so far, even though the funds for the school was already released by the Central Government in May, which in turn hampered the academic activities of the school .
He said that if the funds are not released in a few days time, there is a high possibility for the higher secondary students to miss the upcoming board and council examinations, while raising concern on who will bear the responsibility if the students miss their examinations .
In view of the impending misfortune befalling the students of EMRS, the Parents' Association has appealed the BJP Government of the State to immediately release the due fund within two days and redress the grievances of the children, Helen said .
He also warned that if impending fund is not released within the stipulated time, the association will initiate an intense protest including bandh .
It may be recalled that barely two years after its establishment in 2015, Eklavya Model Residential School, scripted record in the education of Manipur by producing the largest subject toppers in the HSLC examination, 2017 apart from many other feats in National and International level .
With such achievements, it also became the first Government school in the entire State to achieve such feats in its first attempt in the HSLC examination .
Even CM N Biren Singh is said to have acknowledged the achievement of the school by awarding two of the four subject toppers of the school who bagged 2nd and 6th position.
