ICAR National training programme concludes

The two-day National Stakeholder Capacity Building Programme on "Production Technology of Seed Spices for NEH Region", which was organised by the ICAR-National Research Centre for Seed Spices (NRCSS), Tabiji, Ajmer, Rajasthan in collaboration with ICAR Research Complex for NEH, Manipur Centre, concluded today at the ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat, Imphal .
The valedictory function was graced by Dr Gopal Lal, director, National Research Centre on Seed Spices, Ajmer as the chief guest; Dr RK Saha, director extension, CAU, Imphal as the guest of honour; and Dr I Meghachandra, joint director, ICAR Manipur Centre, Imphal as the president .
In the valedictory programme, the welcome address was given by Dr N Arati, scientist, Entomology and the keynote address was delivered by Dr NK Meena, course coordinator and senior scientist, NRCSS, Ajmer .
In the two-day training programme, a scientist delegation from ICAR-NRCSS comprising Dr SS Meena, principal scientist; Dr RS Meena, senior scientist; Dr NK Meena, senior scientist; Er SP Maheria, CTO; Dr I Meghachandra; Dr MA An-sari, scientist; Dr Arati N; and Dr Ch Tania spoke on cultivation package and practices, pest and disease management in seed spices, mechanisation for cultivation of seed spices, processing, value addition, meditational utilisation, practical and other related topics .
The dignitaries also emphasized on the cultivation of coriander, fenugreek and funnel at a commercial level .
In his presidential speech, Dr I Meghachandra Singh spoke about the multiplication of spices for seed production of coriander, funnel and others as they are adopted well in Manipur and spice industries could reduce the cost of growing them in the state .
Altogether 55 farmers from six different districts including Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Churachand-pur, Chandel and Tamenglong attended the training programme.
