CAB 2016: Many take out rally, form human chain

Kakching/Tbl, February 05 2019: With Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 awaiting the Rajya Sabha test for it to become Act, many civil society organisations, student bodies and general public are continuing protest against the Bill across the State.

Kakching: All Kakching Students' Union along with Ideal Youth Association (IYA), Kakching Wairi, Joint Non Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching, Students Union of Kangleipak, Kakching Keithel Apunba Ima Lup and different clubs and organisations based in Kakching carried out a mass torch rally at Kakching yesterday.

The torch rally which started at Kakching Wairi Kongoi bazar raised several slogans denouncing the Bill which was passed in the Lok Sabha on January 8.Torch rallies were also organised at Pallel and Keirak.

Supporting People Alliance Manipur, womenfolk of Hiyanglam Wabagai Terapishak staged a sit-in against the Bill at Wabagai Terapishak Khongnangkhong.

Thoubal: In Thoubal, Joint Committee Against CAB 2016 of Khangabok Development And Students' Union, United Development Association, Village Development Organisation, Salai Apunba Lup and Khoina Shillon Lamjing Lup demonstrated their stand against the Bill.

Students of New Public Higher Secondary School, Wisdom Foundation Khangabok, Khangabok Higher Secondary School and KM Blooming School formed human chain along the Asian Highway No 1 and raised slogans against the Bill which they identified as a threat to the people of the Norfh-East.

The students later took out a rally that culminated at Thoubal DC gate.

Students of Evergreen Flower School, Thoubal Ningombam too under the aegis of AMSU Thoubal District Committee formed human chain at MI Road.

The students raised slogans against the Bill and appealed the lawmakers not to support and pass the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.

At Thoubal Kiyam Siphai, YSC and ILS Nupi Lup Thoubal Kiyam Siphai Khundongbam Leikai organised a sit-in protesting the CAB 2016.At Charangpat, RYDO Club with Kanglei Chanura and Apunba Miera Paibi Lup Charangpat Maning Leikai organised a sit-in denouncing the CAB 2016.Thoubal Khunou Apunba Meria Paibi also staged a sit in at Thoubal Khunou Keithel and displayed several placards that read "BJP Down Down" and "Scrap CAB 2016".The sit-in urged the 60 MLAs of the State to stand united against the Bill.

Students and different organisation yesterday also staged sit-ins and formed human chain along the National Highway 102.Meira Paibis of Thoubal Achouba and Pakhangkhong Leirak took out a torch rally yesterday at Thoubal upto DC Office and demanded withdrawal of the Bill.
