Cease work strike called off

Following a written and verbal assurance given by Chief Minister N Biren, the Assistant Professors, Senior Residents and Associate Professors (APSRA) Committee, JNIMS has called off their proposed indefinite cease work strike.
A emergency general body meeting of the committee was held this afternoon with its president Dr N Kumarjit in the chair and the meeting resolved to call off the proposed indefinite cease work strike.
The APSRA Committee has been demanding time scale promotion of all Senior Residents to Assistant Professors, Assistant Professors to Associate Professors and Associate Professors to Professors.
Promotion of 50 per cent of the sanctioned posts of regular Senior Residents in the form of time scale promotion as done in RIMS and absorption of non-regular senior residents on tenure/deputation in various departments as regular employees of JNIMS are some other demands of the committee.
The committee has also been demanding provision of teachers' quota in PG seats in their respective departments for regular Senior Residents/Tutors/Demonstrators/Casualty Medical Officers/lady Medical officers.
Provision of pay scale of Assistant Professor to newly promoted Assistant Professors from Senior Residents/Tutors/ Demonstrators/lady Medical officers and provision of old pension scheme to doctors of Manipur Health Services working at JNIMS who joined before 2005 are some other demands of the committee.
The general body meeting agreed to determine their course of agitation based on the progress of implementation of their demands by the Government.
It further resolved to launch indefinite cease work strike which has been called off as of now after one month if there is no positive development from the side of JNIMS authority during the intervening period.
After taking mass casual leave for one day apart from staging protest demonstrations in pursuit of their demands, APSRA Committee, JNIMS earlier announced that they would launch indefinite cease work strike from today.
