Imphal, November 02 2015:
Another public meeting on people's movement for Manipur's common future was held today at Nambol Thangtek, Bishnupur district under the aegis of AMUCO, CCSK and UCM.
AMUCO advisor KT Rahaman, CCSK secretary general Jitendra Ningomba, UCM president Elangbam Johnson and Women Development Association nambol Thangtek president Kh Bala attended the public meeting as presidium members.
Addressing the meeting, Jitendra Ningomba remarked that the framework agreement signed between GoI and NSCN-IM on August 3 and any possible solution to the peace talk still remain a mystery.
In view of the fact that the framework agreement was signed when there was a massive civil movement for a constitutional safeguard for the indigenous people of Manipur, it demands a thorough analysis whether the framework agreement was signed to divert people's attention and suppress the movement, Jitendra said.
KT Rahaman categorically stated that any political arrangement of disintegrating Manipur in order to appease NSCN-IM, the author of fabricated history would not be accepted.
Pointing out that it was Naga militants who shot dead a man belonging to Aimol tribe for refusing to embrace Naga identity, Rahaman remarked that the cease fire agreement amounted to giving legal sanction for killing people, extortion and abduction.
On the other hand, MLAs of the State thought it necessary to open camp at Delhi in pursuit of Ministry reshuffle but they don't bother to extract the contents and details of the framework agreement.
It was GoI's divide and rule policy which sowed seeds of division among the people of Manipur, he stated while underscoring the paramount importance of fighting collectively any challenge to the integrity of Manipur.
"We will meet interlocutor RN Ravi.
If it turns out positive, then it is well and good.
But if the interlocutor proposes anything which is against the collective interest of our people, then we must fight back collectively in a befitting manner", Johnson said.
RN Ravi was saying that the territorial boundaries of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh would not be affected and any solution worked between the two parties would be within the constitution of India.
However, RN Ravi's assurance cannot be trusted fully given NSCN-IM general secretary Th Muivah's track record.
He is an anti-thesis to Manipur, Johnson added.
A similar meeting on the same topic was held at Thounaojam, Yangdong Thoubal district.
There CCSK president Advocate P Arjun, AMUCO vice-president Ph Deban and UCM general secretary YK Dhiren were the main speakers.
