Students concerned over admission system

The students who are willing to admit in class XI in the Govt Higher Secondary Schools and their parents find dissatis-faction with the Government of Manipur's new venture of Joint Admission System of the eight higher secondary schools.
The new admission system would derail soon because as many as 1137 students could not find admission in their preferred school and at the same time, the seats of some higher secondary schools are lying vacant owing to lack of confidence by the students as well as their parents.
In this regard, The Sangai Express has made an enquiry into this admission system and other related issues and found the following reports.
Out of the 38 Government higher secondary schools, the joint admission system is targeted to implement in eight higher secondary schools such as Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School, CC Higher Secondary School, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School, Jonhstone Higher Secondary School, Lamlong Higher Secondary School, Model Higher Secondary School, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School and TG Higher Secondary School respectively.
In order to get admission to the said schools, forms are downloaded from the website of the Department of Education (S) and submitted the forms with necessary fill up including school preference along with Rs 100 for each form to the said department.
And selection will be made on mark basis obtained in the class X exam.
A total of 3977 forms have been submitted to the department of Education (S) of which 2000 plus forms are given preference to TG Higher Secondary School, out of which 1410 for science stream, 606 for Arts and 47 for Commerce respectively.
The higher secondary which gets second highest preference is CC Higher Secondary School and the remaining schools only get below 100 preferences.
Furthermore, it is found in the notification of the first and second list that TG Higher Secondary School has 831 seats comprising of Arts, Science and Commerce, CC Higher Secondary School has 460 seats, Johnstone Higher Secondary School has 380 seats, Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School has 315 seats, Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School has 221 seats, Lamlong Higher Secondary School has 82 seats, Model Higher Secondary School has 185 seats and Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School has 103 seats respectively.
Despite Government's counselling and verbal assurance of providing necessary infrastructures of all the schools equally, 917 Science students, 220 Arts students are admitted to private higher secondary schools of their own choice.
