Court pulls up CS for non-compliance

Special Judge (POCSO), Manipur East Aribam Guneshwar Sharma issued notice to the Chief Secretary of Manipur for non-compliance of the courts' order on March 24 wherein the State Government was directed to pay a amount of Rs 2 lakhs as compensation to the victim of sexual assault for rehabilitation as mandated under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 which will be paid within 30 days.
In a press statement issued by Human Rights Law Network, (HRLN) Manipur Director Meihoubam Rakesh said that the court has issued the said notice to the Chief Secretary, Manipur after the mother of the minor victim filed an application for the enforcement of the said order.
It mentioned here that on Mach 24 last the special court, after completion of trial under POCSO act passed an order wherein the accused person identified as Golmei alias Boy (29), son of late Pantiphun Golmei of Ramji Khun, Tera Makha was sentenced to undergo ten years rigorous imprisonment with a fine Rs 25,000 .
And the State Government was directed to pay 2 lakhs as compensation to the minor victim for rehabilitation as mandated under POCSO Act, which should be paid within 30 days.
However even after serving notice to the Chief Secretary for compliance of the said order by the counsel of the victim's mother on April 8, the State Government has miserably failed to comply with the said order without assigning any reason.
And the present petition is being filed at the active initiation of Human Rights law Network,the statement added.
