Survey to check JE carried out

Imphal, July 21 2016:
Following detection of nine positive cases of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) in the State, the Government has launched a house to house survey to check if there is any more case of JE.
There have been confirmed reports of detection of JE cases in Imphal West, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Thoubal, Chandel and Ukhrul districts, informed an official source.
Starting from June 2, the State Health Department launched a surveillance campaign.
It was during this surveillance campaign that nine positive cases of JE were detected.
Subsequently, extensive vaccination drives were carried out within one kilometre radius of the places where the positive cases were detected.
Informing that all the people suffering from JE are undergoing treatment at hospitals, the official informed that one child from Lilong Haoreibi has been taken to Guwahati even though the conditions of other victims have improved considerably.
Altogether 685 persons below 14 years were vaccinated at Zion village, Chandel district today.
Fogging was also carried out at the village at the initiative of Health Department.
A 12 year old belonging to the village has been confirmed positive of JE and she is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The number of positive JE cases detected so far are three in Imphal West, two in Churachandpur, one each in Imphal East, Thoubal, Chandel and Ukhrul.
