Ccpur, May 21 2016 :
Thousands of Christian youth took to the street here braving the incessant downpour on Saturday, calling for a society that is 'God centred' and 'free of corruption, exploitation and electoral malpractices' .
The rally was being led by the Central Baptist Youth Fellowship (CBYF), the youth wing of the Evangelical Baptist Convention (EBC) and Tuailai 1434 Pro an alliance of people who pledge against corruption.
The first rally of its kind, today's 'anti-corruption rally' entailed much more than a demonstration as banners calling for breaking the chain of corruption that is rampant in the society and to join the fight against it was erected at vital Government installations across the district.
Draped in white or bright colours and cuddling the Christian Holy Book the Bible, participants of the rally drawn across all walks of life and of different denominations held a wide array of banners that read 'corruption is a sin,' 'God's justice demands justice for society; and from a call to join the fight against corruption for a secure the future to a society free on impartiality and wickedness' .

The movement to sow the seeds of righteousness, especially amongst the youth, has been doing the rounds for quite some time now with the CBYF at the forefront of the campaign.
It has since last year started a crusade under the banner 'Tuailai 1434 Pro' which can be decoded as youths who are (Pro) in favour of the proverbial Biblical verse 'Righteousness exalts the nation' (Proverbs 14:34) .
Evidently an appeal letter issued by the rallyists today said the BYF central sub-committee had initiated an anti-corruption endeavour under the banner Tuailai 1434 Pro that calls young and old people to pledge the fight for corruption in each of their own sphere of influence.
'We firmly believe this is the beginning of a larger socio-political transformation in our land.
It is also our conviction and belief that public administrators are strategically and divinely placed to infuse transparency and accountability in matters of all public dealings.' Over 3000 youths, according to N Pumsuanmung, youth Coordinator EBC, have so far taken the 'Tuailai 1434 Pro' pledge and publicly proclaim their stand to not abet any form of corruption, exploitation or electoral malpractices and to remain God centric.
Today's rally was undertaken by the group along with the CBYF with the objective to take home to the masses the message that people have no future in a society where partiality, unfair dealings and injustice reign.
Seeking the DLOs' support in their fight against corruption to reform the society on the principles of truth, justice and rule of law in private and public life, the rally organisers have called on the DLOs to prepare display boards showing office timings, staff lists and corresponding designation, programmes and schemes dealt by the office and list of public institutions in the district and their contact details among others.
