Tamenglong, April 03 2021:
The Northern Liangmai Students' Organisation (NLSO), in a statement issued today, reiterated its demand to bring the EMRS at Kuilong circle.
It also appreciated the stance of the LNKR (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland), the apex body of 'All Liangmai Naga Students Union' for selecting the appropriate site of the new EMRS for Northern Tamenglohg as per the guidelines of the Ministry and the necessity of the people without.
NLSO stated that Kuilong area/circle is the most remote and backward area within Tamenglong district.
It remains the most neglected area in Tamenglong.
Kuilong circle lies in the northern part of Tamenglong which consist of 21 villages with a population of about 30,000.The people in the area live in perpetual miseries due to poor development, due to lack of educational facilities, health care, economic development, etc.
It is no wonder that till now there is not even a high school in the area, it added.
The SDC office inaugurated by the State Government in the year 1987 has remained nonfunctional till date.
Though the current Government has launched the 'Go to village' mission, till now it has not covered even a single village in the area, it added.
NLSO stated that a decade ago, Kuilong Area Chairmen Association (KACA) had presented an MOU appealing the government to bring Kuilong area under development map of Manipur and warned that if the State Government is indifferent towards it, they were ready to merge with Nagaland government.
It was the second time, right after the Manipur Legislative Assembly Election, 2017, the then KACA presented an MOU to the Chief Minister once again on 'Chingi Numit' for making Kuilong area as a 'Focus Area' for development.
It also mentioned setting up of EMRS at Kuilong Circle apart from reviving the SDC office at Kuilong.
NLSO also mentioned that they have met with the local Minister as well as the concerned Minister on several occasions to select the right location for the new EMRS.
The organisation continued that in pursuing the issue, a neutral body JAC for Kuilong Circle would be formed to genuinely work for the welfare of the area, it added.
NLSO further appealed to the concerned Minister to reconsider the demands of the organisation and render positive action without any bias at the earliest.
