Imphal, September 25 2009:
A two-day legal awareness programme under the banner Khungang Maikei Panglasi (Towards the villages) was held at several villages of the Tamenglong district from September 23 to 24 by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), Imphal, according to a press statement issued by the Commission.
The programme was held with the objective to educate the women of the villages of the Tamenglong district regarding education and health in Noney, Lukhambi, Namdoijang, Charoi pamlongba, and Tupul villages of Tamenglong district, according to the press statement.
The press statement further stated that the second day of programme was conducted at the community hall of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Tupul village.
Resource persons, Ch Jamini Devi, Chairperson, MSCW, Lingjaneng Gangte, Member, WSCW, Ch Narendra, Legal Advisor, Prakash Chand, Assistant Commandant of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), K Loukei, village chief of Khulni village, Dr Arjan Maringmei, KG Obed, Headmaster of Thangal High school graced the function.
About 250 women from the district participated in the programme.
They requested the MSCW to present the shortcomings of the women of the district to the Government.
