Under the civic action programme aimed at uplifting socio-economic status of people of interior areas, the 69 Battalion CRPF organised a six-day training programme on 'bamboo products' at Khongsang village of Tamenglong district.
The inaugural programme of the training programme, being attended by 10 local women as trainees, was held on September 4 with DIGP, CRPF PS Rajora as the chief guest.
Besides Commandant 69 Bn CRPF UB Mishra, ADC Tamenglong Joseph Pauling and 86 Bn's Sanjeev Kumar, representatives of local NGOs, public leaders and senior citizens also participated in the inauguration, said a CRPF statement.
Speaking on the occasion, DIGP Rajora highlighted developmental endeavours initiated by the CRPF and assured the para-military force's commitment to organise similar programmes in the future so that people of the area can reap benefits.

He also expressed confidence that such training programmes would help in skill development of the locals which is in the long run would equip the people in starting their lives with a new beginning as independent and self-sufficient.
Informing that the training programme is being held under the supervision of ICAR experts, the CRPF release mentioned presentation of Rongmei Naga dance and performance by Khongsang musical troupe as the highlight of the opening ceremony.
Commandant UB Mishra rewarded the cultural troupe members with suitable cash awards to boost their morale, said the release while adding that the CRPF endeavour evoked appreciation from public leaders and locals.
The CRPF unit will also organise second phase bamboo product training for women of weaker section in Rengpang village; hold training programme in piggery, distribute library books, install solar panels and establish computer laboratory to destitute children home and school at Meryland.
Moreover, it is informed that musical instruments to musical bands of Sibilong and digging of water pond at Nunkhou village will be carried out within the month.
