Financial aid handed over

Chandel, November 23 2015:
District Administration, Chandel handed over financial assistance to the relatives of the victims of the recent natural disasters during a simple function held at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Chandel today in the presence of Chandel A/C MLA ST Nunghlung Victor and Chandel DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum.
A cheque of Rs 4 lakh each were handed over to the next of kins of the 9 villagers of Joumol village who were buried alive in the recent landslide and 1 flood victim of Chakpikarong village as ex-gratia under the National Disaster Relief Fund.
Relief materials consisting of two mosquito nets each and blankets, 4 mats and a package of mineral water bottle each were handed over to the victim's family members by MCS Officer's Association.
A copy of condolence message from the President of India was also handed over to the relatives of the victims during the event.
Chief of Joumol village Tonglenlal, Chandel ADC S Sambhunath Singh and Sub-Divisional Officers of the district attended the distribution program.
Commiserating the death of 9 villagers of Joumol and one from of Chakpikarong in the recent landslide and flood, Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, DC, Chandel said nothing can compensate the loss of lives in the unfortunate incident.
The financial assistance provided by the Government in the form of ex-gratia will, to some extent, ease the burden of the victims' family members.
The DC also assured construction of houses for the victim's family members under special package of IAY Scheme.
