Imphal, November 23 2015:
The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has appealed to the authority concerned not to give any disturbances to journalists covering the ongoing Sangai Festival.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, AMWJU president W Shamjai urged the authority concerned to allow journalists cover the Sangai Festival freely.
The movement of reporters covering different events of the festival at BOAT, Chandrakirti Auditorium and MFDC hall has been delayed due lengthening of their route along the Andro Parking side, Shamjai said.
Shamjai further conveyed wish that holders of press identity card issued by the DIPR be allowed to cover the events as done in the previous years.
Saying that a team of AMWJU will meet CM O Ibobi, who is also in-charge of Tourism Dept, tomorrow in this connection, Shamjai said that the Union is likely to take up steps like boycotting the Sangai Festival if there is no positive outcome of the meeting.
At the same time, the AMWJU president said that the union will organise a 3-day tour for women journalists after the ongoing Sangai Festival.
Intending journalists may submit their particulars to the Union.
Interested journalists may also submit their particulars for yoga classes to be organised by the Union.
He further urged DIPR card holders who have not yet joined the pension scheme to submit their applications at the earliest.
