The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has urged the Govt to issue offer forms/appointment letters to candidates who have been recommended for various posts of lecturers of higher secondary schools in the hills at the earliest.
ATSUM also urged the State Govt to regularise 266 contract lecturers in the hills at the earliest.
In a statement, Micah Kamei, information and publicity secretary of ATSUM said that it has consistently approached the Government of Manipur for creation of post and regularisation of contract lecturers who are engaged with a meagre remuneration.
After several round of talks, the Government approved creations of 933 posts of regular lecturers in higher secondary schools.
The State Cabinet further approved filling up of 217 posts � 172 seats for ST, 23 seats for OBC and 17 seats for UR by direct recruitment through MPSC.
Accordingly, written examination for recruitment of 217 lecturers in higher secondary school department, Manipur has already been conducted on February 22, 2015.The final results were also declared on Sept 18, 2015.Six months have lapsed but the successful candidates are yet to get offer forms/appointment letters despite acute shortage of lecturers in the hills, it said.
ATSUM urged the Govt to issue offer forms/appointment letters to candidates who have been recommended for various posts of lecturers of higher secondary schools in the hills and to regularise 266 contract lecturers in the hills at the earliest.
Prompt action in appointment of the two deserving groups will be a panacea in the realm of education.
Failing to work out the modalities for appointment in the nick of time will be a reflection of mal-administration of the O Ibobi regime, it said.
