Students sensitised on importance of preserving wildlife, migratory birds

The Bishnupur Forest Division alongwith the Governing Body of Mangol Nganbi College jointly organized a function in observance of World Migratory Bird Day cum 65 Wildlife Week Celebration, 2020 at the Mangol Nganbi College, Ningthoukhong.
Divisional Forest Officer Bishnupur Forest Division Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu MFS, secy Governing Body of Mangol Nganbi College K Ibohal, RO Bishnupur S Ratankumar, Principal Mangol Nganbi College and IBCN State Co-ordinator RK Birjit Singh along with staff of the Department attended the programme.
The awareness cum anti-poaching campaign was also flagged off during the function by the presidium members.

During the programme, prizes of the winners of the slogan writing competition in relation to Wildlife Week, were distributed.
For category A (Class V to XII), Huirem Birjesh (Little Bird School Moirang), Oinam Vivekananda (LCM Moirang) and Tongbram Seityajit (Children Model Academy Thanga) received first, second and third prizes respectively.
While in category B (Class IX to XII), Huirem Luxmipriya (New Model Public School, Moirang), Ningthoujam Neherika (Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bishnupur) and Khwairakpam Daya (Thanga Government High School) were declared first, second and third winners respectively.
Cash award along with a citation were also given to 9 animal lovers/enthusiasts.
JIRIBAM
Wildlife Week on the theme "Life below water for people and planet" was also observed at the Forest Complex in Uchathol by the Divisional Forest Officer, Jiribam Forest Division.
The celebration programme was attended by Dr Home Singh, DFO/Jiribam, Y Kuladhwaja Singh, Range Forest Officer/Jirimukh and H Rajen Kr Singh, honorary Wild Life Warden, Jiribam district as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
The winners of the slogan writing online competition were also announced and prizes distributed to the winners.
The competition held in two categories - 1st category for Class V-VIII and 2nd category for class IX to XII was in relation to Wildlife Week.
Moirangthem Manganthoiba Singh (Highway English School), Ayekpam Premananda Singh (RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya) and Songita Devi (Kasturba Girls High School) were declared first, second and third winners respectively under the 1st category while Jasmin Begum, Soibam Sushma Devi and Minara Begum (all from Kasturba Girls High School) were declared first, second and third winners respectively, under the 2nd category.
The DFO Jiribam, Dr E Home Singh expressed that for this year, due to the pandemic, the Wildlife Week was observed in a simple function with prize distribution of slogan writing competition and conferring of incentive award to H Rajen Kr Singh, Honorary Wildlife Warden.
