AMSU continues to oppose 30 pc fees from students

All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) today organised a "One day open discussion on imposition of monthly fees by Government during lockdown" at the conference hall of its headquarters.
The one day discussion programme was attended by secretary of All Manipur Students guardians' Organisation, S Sumati; AMSU's advisor, Thokchom Suresh and AMSU's president Peter Laishram as presidium members.
Parents and guardians of various Mission schools, other private schools and members of various organisations instituted for the welfare of the students in the State also attended the programme voluntarily, said a statement of AMSU.
Five very important resolutions were drawn on the basis of the thoughts shared by various speakers during the event, it continued.
As per the statement, it was resolved to oppose the order issued by the Education (S) Department, Government of Manipur on October 5 to collect 30 pc fees from the students for the lockdown months and to jointly press the Government to revoke the order.
Secondly, it was resolved that no parent and guardian pay the fees for months during the lockdown period until the State Government comes up with a clarification.
Thirdly, it was agreed to jointly press the Government and school management committees or authorities to take an initiative to pay salaries to the teachers and staff concerned.
It was also proposed to convene a joint meeting for all teachers working in all private and aided schools in the State for the formation of a 'teachers organisation' .
Lastly, it was resolved to push for effective implementation of the Manipur Private Schools (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2017 and formulation of a regulation Act for hostels and boardings.
AMSU also drew attention of all sections of the society working for the welfare of the students to extend support to the movements initiated by the union.
