Imphal, February 08, 2012:
Condemning the brutal murder of Gideon Joute son of Saplienthang Joute of Rengkai, Churachandpur on February 5 allegedly by expelled HPC (D) cadres led by Vanlalsawm Ralte alias Sawma alias Oliver Hmar, the Hmar People's Convention (HPC-D) said that the 'murder' of Gideon was a result of a covet operations carried out jointly by expelled HPC (D) cadres and a section of the security forces.
A statement issued by the outfit's information and publicity secretary, Jackie Hmar accused that some ousted cadres of the outfit have been working hand in glove with jawans of a particular Central security force in terrorising individuals and innocents by taking undue advantage of Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement.
Alleging that they have wrecked havoc time and again upon the Hmar people, it expressed regret that a section of the security forces in Churachandpur, without understanding the truth, has been led astray by a few expelled cadres and leaders using the outfit's name.
Further, maintaining that it is unfortunate that a section of the Army and Assam Rifles continue to take side even if a representation in this regard had already been sent to the DGMI, the HPC (D) urged the Army/AR to stop meddling in the internal affairs of the Hmar community and instead extend support the peace measures initiated by the Hmar Inpui and the Hmar Christian Leaders' Forum.
The HPC (D) statement also pointed out that Vanlalsawm Ralte is the same person who was arrested recently in Tipaimukh for intimidating voters to vote for a particular candidate.
He is also wanted by the Mizoram Police alongwith his accomplices, Lalropui Hmar, Lalbieknung Hmar, Lalthanglien Hmar and Lalbeisei Hmar, in connection with the murder of journalist and activist Isaac Lalmalsawm Hmar son of Dr Laldena.
In compliance with the request made by the Hmar Inpui and HCLF, the HPC (D) has been exercising great restraint though the 'expelled leaders' and cadres have provoked for a confrontation many times, it added.
The outfit is now compelled to re-consider its policy of restrant though it is strictly against blood-letting within the community, it stated.
The outfit also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family of Gideon Hmar.
