Imphal, March 07 2016:
Following appeals by various student and social organisations, the Khousabung Sub-Division Demand Committee (KSDDC) has suspended its proposed indefinite Tiddim Road bandh slated to begin from March 8 in the larger interest of the students' community, especially those who are appearing for the Class X and Class XII examinations.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, Ng Sang, spokesman of KSDDC said that the committee however will impose the bandh with full force after the Board exams, if the Govt fails to review the Cabinet decision of Feb 10 as per the representation submitted to the Govt by KSDDC.
The democratic protest (sit-in cum candle light vigil) at Khousabung has been continuing till today.
The protest marked its 25th day today.
The KSDDC has been demanding renaming of the new subdivision of Churachandpur district (erstwhile Thangting Subdivision) as Khousabung sub-division with its headquarters at Khousabung.
Ng Sang appealed to all concerned organisations to extend support and cooperation in its endeavours to find justice.
