Kangpokpi, April 03 2021:
The civil society organizations of Kangpokpi in a press conference held at KSO Sadar Hills Administrative office building at Kangpokpi town this afternoon clarified over the alleged firing on an ambulance by bandh volunteers on April 1 evening.
It also cautioned that the CSOs are preparing for an intense agitation if the charter of demands are not materialized at the earliest.
Clarifying on the allegation of one facebook user 'Hemchandra Ngangom' in his facebook status stating that 'Lamyanba Ambulance' was shot at Kangpokpi bazar at around 8:25 pm while returning from Guwahati, Manghekam, the spokesperson of CSOs Kangpokpi said that the allegation of Hemchandra Ngangom is baseless and unfounded.
He continued that the allegation was nothing but a sinister attempt to tarnish the image of CSOs Kangpokpi as during the said timing of the incident, the CSO's bandh had already been relaxed while bandh volunteers were also asked to disperse in the presence of SP Kangpokpi.
He recalled that the 36-hours bandh imposed by CSOs Kangpokpi was relaxed at around 7 pm considering the appeal of District incharge Minister, Losii Dikho and local MLA, Nemcha Kipgen in view of Good Friday and Easter Sunday, while adding that it is rather strange to imagine that such firing incident have gone unnoticed by the district police as commandos and police personnel were present at the spot from 6:30pm till midnight.
He continued that the CSOs Kangpokpi in its earlier press conference had also clearly mentioned that if any untoward incident happen during the bandh the sole responsibility will be of the State Government, but this does not mean that any untoward incident such as the firing on an ambulance as alleged had occurred on the night of April 1 .
He also said that Kangpokpi CSOs considered Chief Minister, N Biren Singh unfortunate consideration of Kangpokpi CSOs legitimate demands as "non-negotiable" because of the baseless allegation of someone in a facebook account to be very shameful and an undemocratic act of the Government.
He maintained that we are living in the largest democratic country and democracy is a form of Government of the people, by the people and for the people, which the Chief Minister should be aware of.
Meanwhile, the leaders of Kangpokpi CSOs in its joint meeting today resolved that a strong mobilization drive shall be conducted in the coming few days for more intensified forms of agitation, if the Government fails to fulfil its charter of demands at the earliest.
The joint meeting also decided to disclose the mode of agitation and the date after the mobilization drive.
