The visiting NEC team was visibly satisfied at observing the water supply scheme constructed by the villagers at Maram Khullen at the cost of Rs 7 lakhs.
NEC Secretary UK Sangma and Planning Advisor PS Thankhiew praised the people of Maram Khullen for successfully implementing the water supply scheme with assistance from the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) .
Earlier in the day, the NEC officials accompanied by Additional Chief Secretary DS Poonia also inspected the tennis court being constructed at Kangpokpi.
On their next stop, they visited the Mao Potato Farm taken up with funding from NEC.
After inspecting the farm, the NEC officials instructed the State officials to prepare a detailed project report so as to expand the farm and enable it supply potato seeds beyond Manipur.
From there, the NEC officials left for Kohima.
The State officials led by Additional Chief Secretary DS Poonia who accompanied the NEC officials later inspected the passion fruit processing plant at Mao.
There the villagers put up a demand to construct
a stadium.
