Imphal, April 29 2009:
Along with taking a decision to the effect of abolishing the Technical Promotion Cell (TP Cell) which was set up under the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, a meeting of the State Cabinet held today with Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh in the chair has recommended for instituting a State Medical Council.
According to a Minister of the SPF Government, the Cabinet meeting decided to abolish the TP Cell and release the pending fund of all the works that have been completed and refund the deposite amount of the works which have not yet been started.
The meeting also decided to merge the District Council Engineering Cell with the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation and to ensure MANIDCO does not take up any other works not related to that of the industries.
Consequent to the merger it is expected functioning of all the Engineering Cells would be looked after by a committee headed by the Chief Secretary as chairman.
It may be noted here that the Principal Secretary Finance has been monitoring the functioning including the technical capacity of the Engineering Cells for quite sometime now.
Furthermore, along with recommending institution of a State Medical Council with the approval of the MCI, today's Cabinet meeting also decided that the Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Institute would be given the independent charge of controlling the administration of the institute.
