Disabled youth shows the way in cabbage cultivation

No matter he is a differently abled person, a young man from Kwakta Sandong Makha Leikai has showed the way to many disabled persons to face the challenges in life.
By successfully farming cabbage in three paris of land, 27-year-old Ningthoujam Lakhikanta has proved the fact that differently abled persons can also lead an
independent life.
Lakhikanta said that he is expected to earn a profit of around Rs One lakh from his cabbage farm this cropping season.
Saying that he earned around Rs 24,000 by farming brinjal last year, Lakhikanta said that poor irrigation facility is a major problem he is facing in his hired farmland.
Lakhikanta said that he took up the endeavour to show to the world that physically challenged persons can also make ventures to this extent.
Saying that he borrowed money from others to farm cabbage in large scale, Lakhikanta said that his family members have helped him to make his endeavour successful.
He said that it is better to be self employed rather than waiting for only Government jobs.
On the otherhand, Lakhikanta said that he has not received any help from the Government, Agriculture Department and local MLA.
During a visit to Lakhikanta's farm today, Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons President Ch Opendra expressed satisfaction to Lakhikanta's endeavour.
He said that Lakhikanta has shown to the world that a differently abled person can also do what a normal person does.
