Many condole demise of former Ministers

Condolences have poured in over the demise of two former MLAs, Laisom Lalit and Vivekraj Wangkhem due to Covid.
Chief Minister N Biren, Speaker Yumnam Khemchand and CAF&PD Minister Th Satyabrata have expressed grief and pain over the passing away of the two personalities.
"I am deeply aggrieved to learn about the sad and untimely demise of Vivekraj Wangkhem", said the Chief Minister in his condolence note.
He was elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2002 from Kshetrigao AC and had also served the people of the State as Minister, said the Chief Minister.
Vivekraj, who was the son of former MLA of Kshetrigao AC and film actor Late Basanta Kumar Wangkhem, had a remarkable record of good service and works, said the CM.
He was the National general secretary of National People's Party (NPP), the CM added.
The CM also condoled the untimely demise of former Minister, Laisom Lalit.
In a separate note, the CM recalled that Laisom Lalit was elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly in 1984 from Keishamthong AC on Indian National Congress ticket and also served as Minister during the tenure of Late Chief Minister Rishang Keishing.
Late Lalit was also the former president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and had a significant record of service to the State.
On his demise, the State has lost a great leader and a sincere politician who gave his best for the betterment of the society, the CM said.
CM on behalf of the State Government not only condoled the demise of the two leaders but also shared grief of the bereaved family members.
Y Khemchand, in his condolence note, stated it was saddening to know that former Ministers, Laisom Lalit (85) of Keishamthong AC and Vivekraj Wangkhem (46) of Kshetrigao AC had succumbed to COVID-19."I express my deepest condolences and pray that their souls rest in peace.
I also share in the grief of the bereaved family members," the Speaker continued.
CAF&PD Minister, Th Satyabrata expressed shock over the death of the two former Ministers who had served the State as politicians, social workers and dedicated leaders during their entire lifetime.
Elected from Kshetrigao AC in 2002, Vivekraj became a Minister during ex-CM O Ibobi's tenure and was serving as the general secretary of the National People's Party (NPP), Satyabrata recalled.
Their absence will surely leave a vacuum in the political scenario of Manipur, he added.
