Accused groom-to-be remanded till May 21

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Thoubal today further remanded Md Saruk Khan to four more days police custody till May 21 in connection with the death of his fiancee under mysterious circumstances at his residence at Santhel Mamang Leikai under Mayang Imphal Police Station on May 11 .
Md Saruk Khan (26), son of Md Abdullah of Santhel Mamang Leikai was arrested at around 8.30 pm after he surrendered before the police on May 11 .
The accused was produced before the Court by a team of Mayang Imphal PS after the completion of seven day police custody period along with a prayer for four more days police remand.
The IO submitted that Mayang Imphal Police received a phone call on May 11 morning stating that one Phisubam Ruhani of Uchiwa Nastao was found dead on the bed of the accused (fianc�) on May 11 at around 5.30 am.
One mobile phone, some pieces of nails of the deceased, one chuni red in colour and pieces of the mentioned chuni were seized from the crime scene by observing necessary formalities, the IO through the APP submitted.
During the course of enquiry, the victim's father had stated that he received a call from the accused at around 12.50 am of May 11 during which the accused had told the victim's father that he will return 6 mohor of gold and hand over his daughter (victim) in a loud voice.
Another call was also received from the accused informing the victim's father to take home his daughter who had died due to hanging at around 4.10 am, the IO submitted.
The victim's father had also disclosed that his daughter had informed him of frequent threats from her fiance to leave his house or face dire consequences in the recent past and it is highly suspected that his daughter was hanged after being tortured mentally and physically by the accused, the IO submitted.
IO also submitted that during the spot inspection it was found that the dead body was lying on the bed of the accused with white cloth being put on.
Some ligature marks were also seen during the inquest and it is therefore highly suspected that accused Md Saruk Khan had caused disappearance of evidence of hanging, the IO added.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had harassed the victim which led the victim to kill herself.
The accused also disclosed that he along with his brother and sister-in-law disturbed the evidence, the IO continued and prayed to remand the accused to police custody for four more days for smooth investigation and to arrest the co-accused persons involved in the case.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submissions of the IO remanded the accused to police custody till May 21 .
