Oxygen generator plants to be set up in Tamenglong DH

Recognising the critical importance of medical oxygen supply in the second wave of Covid-19, the state government will set up Oxygen generator plants at Tamenglong District Hospital campus with a refuelling capacity of up to 200 D-type cylinder, said Tamenglong deputy commissioner Armstrong Pame, who is also chairman of Tamenglong District Task Force.
The D-type oxygen cylinders are expected to come up within the next 6 to 8 weeks under Tribal Affairs and Hills department, said the DTF chairman.
In view of the increasing number of Covid-19 positive cases and to combat the pandemic in Tamenglong district, directorate of Health Services on Tuesday handed over an ambulance to Forest and Environment minister Awangbow Newmai which is well equipped with the first aid and medical kits.
As part of the measures taken up by the government for containing Covid-19 pandemic, mass vaccination programme for people in the age group of 18-44 years was also started at District Hospital Tamenglong in the presence of the DTF chairman and chief medical officer Dr G Majachunglu and district immunization officer Dr Sunil Kamei.
The vaccination drive launched from January 16 covered health care workers and front-line workers in the first phase.
In the second phase, people above 45 years were vaccinated while 18-44 years group would be vaccinated in the third phase.
Out of 100 registered, 98 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years were inoculated against Covid-19.For those who have registered but yet to get inoculated the vaccines will be administered every Wednesday at District hospital Tamenglong, PHC Tamei, PHC Tousem and PHC Oinamlong.
As per the notice issued by CMO Tamenglong, pregnant women, lactating women, those allergic to multi drugs or food and people below 18 years have been advised to avoid Covid vaccination.
