Imphal, July 12, 2013:
The Tangkhul Frontal Organisation has decided to impose indefinite public curfew from midnight of July 14 until the demand for the transfer of Ukhrul DC is realised.
A joint statement issued by presidents of TNL, TSL, TMNL and TKS today expressed concern over the heavy deployment of security forces in Ukhrul following the ultimatum served by the Tangkhul bodies for the transfer of the incumbent DC.
This act is a direct challenge to the Tangkhul Naga community and clearly proved the motive of the Government of Manipur in trying to suppress the people by using mighty forces, the statement said.
It added that medical, electricity and media services would be exempted from the purview of the public curfew.
Appealing the public to extend cooperation, the statement warned that the GoM would be solely held responsible for any untoward consequences arising thereof.
