Imphal West District Police Commandos have arrested in all four underground activists from different part of the district today.
According to a statement issued by Senior SP of Imphal West District L Kailun, one RPF/PLA activist identified as Mayanglambam Khelendro Singh (30) s/o M Radhamangol of Kakching Khullen Turel Wangma but staying in a rented house near Lamphel Super Market was arrested acting on a credible information from Sanakeithel Super Market at around 7.25 am today.
On spot verification, Khelendro disclosed that he is working under the command of one Moirangthem Muni (25) of Kakching Khullen Turel Wangma and he was assigned to extort money and also to serve demand letters to the general public for party fund.
Based on further verification, one more RPF/PLA activist identified as Khangembam Jiten Singh (35) s/o Kh Chaoba Singh of Kumbi Lai Sandang Mamang Leikai was arrested from Lamphel Super Market.
The SSP further informed that a combined force of Imphal West District Police Commandos and 12 Maratha Light Infantry arrested two PREPAK activists from Tera Sapam Leirak at around 10.30 am today.
Identifying the arrested PREPAK activists as Thokchom Tondon Singh (34) s/o Th Angou of Sagolband Sayang and Thokchom Romio (33) s/o late Th Kendramani Singh of Sagolband Pukhrambam Leirak, the SSP conveyed that on spot verification, the duo disclosed that they are working under one S/S Corporal RK Tomba of Tera and were assigned to kidnap one EE of Tera Sapam Leirak.
One 9 mm pistol with 3 live rounds in the magazine have been seized from the possession of Thokchom Tondon Singh, the SSP added.
On the other hand, based on specific information regarding presence of PREPAK cadres, troops of 34 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) established mobile vehicle check post in general area of Yairipok Market and apprehended one PREPAK cadre at around 1.15 pm today, according to a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
Identifying the apprehendee as Khoirom Romenkumar alias Manao (28) s/o Kaomacha of Bamon Leikai, the PRO informed that the apprehendee has been handed over to Yairipok Police Station.
The PRO further informed that based on specific information regarding movement of UG cadres from Moreh to Imphal on NH-39, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) established check post yesterday and at around 4.15 pm a Maruti van moving from Moreh to Imphal was stopped for checking.
While checking one passenger tried to flee towards forest.
However, the troops overpowered him and one spot interrogation revealed that the apprehendee identified as Ginmuanlal Haokip (20) s/o Lunkholal Haokip of Churachandpur was a transporter of warlike stores from Moreh to Imphal for proscribed KCP (MC).
One 9 mm pistol, six rounds of 9 mm ammunition and one Kenwood Radio set with antenna have been recovered from the possession of the apprehendee who has been subsequently handed over to Imphal West Police Station, the PRO said.
Furthermore, based on specific input regarding visit of KYKL cadres to Ward no.5 Moreh, troops of 31 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) kept the area under surveillance yesterday.
At around 10 pm, one individual was seen moving from across Indo-Myanmar border toward Ward no.5 Moreh.
The troops waited till the individual crossed towards own side and apprehended him.
Spot interrogation revealed that the apprehendee was an active cadre of KYKL working as body guard of high level functionary of KYKL.
The apprehendee identified as Md Enus Ali Ahmed (24) s/o Abdul Rahim of Moreh, Chandel district has been handed over to Imphal West Police Station, the PRO Assam Rifles
