KISG revamps Saparmeina-Saikul Rd, warns not to issue maintenance work

After the local MLA, concern authority and the State Government failed to respond to repeated appeals of the people plying along Saparmeina-Saikul road, the Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai with assistance from local MDC and various social workers revamped the road recently.
The 15 Km (approx) road between Saparmeina and Ekou passing through Konghom area comprising more than 30/40 villages, connect Kangpokpi District Headquarters with Saikul Sub-divisional Headquarters and other parts of Saikul areas and serve as the lifeline of thousand people.
Almost a month back, considering the plights of the people, the Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai (KISG) and Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) Saikul had a joint inspection of the road and had drawn attention of the local MLA, PWD Department and State Government to repair the said road within a week.
Emphasizing the importance of Saparmeina-Saikul road, L Tongkholen Khongsai, executive member of BJP ST Morcha Manipur had also appealed for swift action in repairing the road.
Seimang Lupho, president KISG said that despite all efforts and appeals, the local MLA remained a mute spectator over the matter while the Department and Government also failed to take any action.
After the inaction, the body approach the elected member of ADC Sadar Hills from the area and other social workers for assistance in renovating the road and have revamped the road with their assistance, he added.
He also said that there is around 19-20 lakhs amount for maintenance of Saparmeina-Saikul road and thus have decided to halt issuance of maintenance work order since no maintenance have been witnessed even after repeated appeals.
Therefore, the concern PWD department under any circumstances shall not issue any maintenance work order with respect to Saparmeina-Saikul road without the knowledge of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai and CSOs Saikul, he added.
