Imphal, July 10 2019:
A joint survey, participated by officials of both India and Myanmar, will be conducted at the controversial Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar 82, tomorrow.
This was stated by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the sideline of the launching function of Fair Price Shop (FPS) Automation in Manipur at Chief Minister's Durbar Hall located at Babupara, Imphal.
Asserting that the State Government has already informed the Ministry of External Affairs about the Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar 82 issue, the CM said that the joint survey will be led by Tamu DC for Myanmar and the Manipur side will be represented by the DC concerned, officials of Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and village chiefs of the affected villages.
Biren continued that further course of action regarding the controversy will be decided after considering the outcome of the joint survey.
Since Indo-Myanmar Border controversy is a bilateral issue involving Manipur and Myanmar, the State cannot act solely on its own, N Biren contended.
When asked about the issue arising out of the alleged non-receipt of Khurai A/C's NFSA rice quota, the CM replied that the transport contractor and CAF&PD Minister have already made a clarification regarding the matter through media and maintained that a clarification will be made from the Government side soon after a thorough investigation.
Speaking about today's launching programme, the CM claimed that the Government has been giving special emphasis on doorstep delivery of Governmental schemes and initiatives that are being implemented in the State.
As part of its effort to take Governmental schemes to the grass root level, the Government has implemented programmes like "Go to Village" and "Go to Hills", N Biren said.
The FPS Automation has come into reality after the Cabinet Ministers and BJP legislators duly considered finding appropriate means to deal the mismanagement of NFSA rice quota, the CM said, adding that the introduction of FPS Automation will allow NFSA beneficiaries to receive their allocation through biometrics system of distribution from this month.
Informing that the total number of FPS agents and NFSA card holders in the State are approximately 2,324 and 5,69,648 respectively, Biren exuded confidence that the introduction of FPS Automation will successfully solve the issues of card holders and mismanagement of rice allocation for NFSA apart from properly streamlining the beneficiaries of the scheme.
Conveying that FPS Automation will be launched initially in ten places, the CM sought public cooperation to implement the NFSA scheme more transparently and smoothly.
