Imphal, July 10 2019:
Saying that it's not time for the ruling parties and MLAs to engage in a protracted power struggle, ex-MLA RK Anand has urged the Government to convene the monsoon session of the State Assembly so that all major issues of the State including the distress of farmers caused by inadequate rainfall can be deliberated on the floor of the House.
Speaking to media persons at his Kwakeithel residence today, RK Anand said that the issues of CAB, Indo-Naga peace talk, border pillars 81 and 82, inadequate rainfall and Manipur People Bill 2018 are very serious ones which demand undivided attention of all stake holders.
He reminded how the Government of India signed a cease fire agreement without territorial limits with NSCN-IM in 2001 after imposing President's Rule in the State which led to a historic civil uprising.
He further reminded that the Central Government imposed President's Rule in the State taking advantage of the power struggle among the ruling MLAs.
All the people are aware that there is a big power struggle within the Government.
Many MLAs and Ministers have been camping at Delhi for quite sometime after overlooking all their duties and responsibilities but it is highly questionable whether they are demanding change of leadership or inviting President's Rule, Anand remarked.
It appears that there is no governance in the State at present.
As such, all the ruling MLAs need to sit together resolve the political crisis at the earliest, he urged.
Saying that he has received a number of complaints from the people of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC about non-receipt PDS rice, sugar and SK Oil, the ex-MLA appealed to the concerned to streamline all these irregularities.
He also demanded a white paper from the local MLA about how many NFSA cards have been generated and whether they are being provided subsidised rice regularly or not.
Later, RK Anand made a spot assessment of the dilapidated condition of Konjeng Leikai Chingphu road and Lairenjam Sabal Lambi.
