Sadar Hills, August 08 2016:
Saikul based civil society organizations including Kuki Inpi, KSO, Kuki Women Union and elected members of ADC Sadar Hills have drawn immediate attention of the State Government over the alleged shortage of doctors in Saikul Primary Health Centre.
The CSOs have alleged that although Saikul PHC had been upgraded to provide 247 services more than two years back, shortage of doctors and staff is making it impossible to provide uninterrupted services to the people.
Thousands of people from far flung villages within the administration of Saikul Hill town entirely depend on Saikul PHC but the lack of adequate staff has made it impossible to attend to the grievances of the people, Kamboi Haolai, vice president, KSO Saikul block stated.
Three positive cases of Japanese Encephalitis were detected under Saikul PHC but no awareness program has been conducted so far in the area, the Kamboi alleged.
Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai has also expressed disappointment over the insufficiency of doctors in the PHC.
The Kuki Women Union Saikul Gamkai alleged that many women of the areas encounter tremendous hardship in delivery cases in the PHC.
ADC member, Thongjalun Mate said, "I am not satisfied with the 247 services and functioning of the PHC.
I also find it very unfortunate that almost all the health sub centres within Saikul are all defunct." ADC Member, Thangkam Lupheng urged the State Government to initiate immediate measures to fill the vacant posts of doctors at the PHC for the welfare of the economically backward populace of Saikul.
While drawing the immediate attention of the State Government and concerned authority, Saikul CSOs urged to make Saikul PHC function 247 by providing adequate doctors and infrastructures without delay.
