Government should ensure there is no shortage of Oxygen: CPI

CPI spokesperson RK Amusana condemned the death of a person kept at Khuman Lampak Bal Bhawan due to shortage of beds at RIMS and JNIMS Covid wards and questioned why a new hospital which was already planned has been kept in cold storage.
RK Amusana said this today at a press meet held at his residence in Khurai Sajor Leikai said the shortage of Oxygen is evident in the State too and the lack of vaccination has made long queues in available vaccination centres which increases the risk of further spread of the virus.
In order to bring out an amicable solution immediately, the Government should take all political parties into confidence and called a meeting along with subject experts, he added.
If the Government does not have the financial capabilities at present for construction of new hospital, the same could be done with assistance from the public, he added.
Regarding the shortage of vaccines, he said Manipur has a population of about 28 lakhs, vaccine should be ordered to ensure every eligible persons get vaccinated.
He also reiterated the need for stocking up Oxygen to prevent shortage in coming days.
Khumukcham Joykumar, CPI Patsoi Local Council, also appealed the Government to look into the price hike of essential commodities and to rope in local clubs and organisation in order to move the vaccination drive faster and smoother.
