TMNL conference concludes

The 3-day 9th general conference of Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL/Tangkhul Youth Council) concluded today at Kachai village in Ukhrul district.
The conference hosted by Kachai village at the Kachai Government High School ground under the theme 'Rationalism: the youth ethics' was attended by about 10,000 youths from various villages of Ukhrul district.
As chief guest of the inaugural session, former TMNL general secretary Preshaw K Shimray, who is presently Senior Scientific Officer of Environmental and Ecology Wing, Manipur highlighted that every single individual will have to contribute their mite in moulding future leader of the masses so as to ensure the society marches on toward development and overall prosperity.
Iterating that a committed and sincere leader is an essential component to guide the society cross various milestone in reaching the cherished goal, Shimray emphasised that youth of the present day should strive to alleviate the society from all ailments.

Stating that under the stated objective of churning out committed leaders of the future the TMNL was constituted in 1996, he also pointed out that prior to the Government clamping prohibition on sale or consumption of alcohol the council had already launched intense campaigns to crack down on the use of all forms of intoxicating items in Ukhrul district.
Conceding that compared to the success of the campaign in the initial stage, the menace of drug and alcohol has started to resurface again, Shimray strongly suggested that TMNL will have to take the responsibility for ensuring a drug-free society for which making the Council strong and vibrant is the need of the hour.
The conference graced by the presence of educationist Soso Shaiza and Ukhrul PHE Division's Assistant Engineering M Themreishang as the functional president and guest of honour respectively, also witnessed holding of election for new office bearers of the Council.
