Dupester handed over to cops

Personnel of Imphal police station have reportedly taken into custody an individual on the charge of duping passengers by posing as conductor of Inter-State passenger service operator.
The accused person identified as one Md Liyauddin (20) of Sangaiyumpham Cherapur but presently a resident of Hatta was apprehended by the police personnel from North AOC area at around 6.30 am today.
It is informed that posing as a bus conductor Liyauddin lures unsuspecting passengers to somehow use their mobile phone handsets only to disappear from the scene with the communication gadgets.
Being more specific, it is said that as recently as May 2, Liyauddin took the mobile phone of a passenger from a stationary bus at the inter-state bus parking in North AOC on the pretext to contact the driver.
However, to the embarrassing surprise of the victim passenger, the 20-year old was nowhere to be seen the very next moment.
It is said that the victim one Lungtanlung Gonmei (20) of Ngarian village near Bishnupur district headquarters boarded the bus to proceed to Dimapur for possession of his Class XII documents/certificate from Emmanuel College, when he was approached by Liyauddin.
After a dejected Lungtanlung cancelled the trip and stayed at a relative's place at Keishamthong Kabui Khul, the youngster was all set to board another bus at North AOC this morning when he spotted Liyauddin loitering at the same area.
Lungtanlung reportedly contacted some of his friends and pulled up Liyauddin, who was subsequently handed over to the police.
No further details could be obtained from the police on the matter.
