'State still does not have any sports oriented policy'

Although Manipur dominates other states of India in the field of sports, there is not a single sports oriented policy in the state till now, said MLA RK Anand today while felicitating Mr India Khuraijam Pritam and Lourembam Irabanta at his residence.
Speaking in the occasion, RK Anand said that lack of proper sports oriented policy forces many state players to represent other states in various national and international events.
Government should make a proper policy and bring back the sportspersons who are playing for other states.
Once they come back here and start playing for the state, no one in the country will have the courage to compete with state players, he said.
Weightlifter coach E Enao recalled how Mr India Khuraijam Pritam played for the CRPF due to lack of proper sports policy.
I Bipin, coach of Mr India Lourembam Irabanta also recalled how MLA RK Anand helped him when he faced financial shortage for participation of Irabanta in the 51st Senior Mr India Contest held from April 9 to 11 .
It may be mentioned that Irabanta and Pritam bagged the Mr India titles in 70 kg and 100 kg categories respectively in the recently concluded 51st Senior Mr India Contest held in Bangalore.
MLA RK Anand honoured the two body builders and their coaches with Rs 10,000 and Rs 5000 each for the body builders and the coaches respectively.
RK ongbi Usharani wife of MLA RK Anand also attended the function.
