Imphal, November 28 2016:
Not only door-to-door election campaign but religious campaign to worship Lord Shiva has been witnessed in Imphal.
Around 20 non-Manipuri women were seen undertaking door-door campaign to worship Shiva in Soibam Leikai and Wangkhei Khunou areas recently.
These women were seen visiting every house located along the road connecting Soibam Leikai and Wangkhei Khunou.
They would hand out pamphlets to the residents wherein prayers to Hindu god Shiva were printed.
The residents were then asked to read the prayer points and recite Namah Shivaya mantra 108 times.

When this reporter asked the non-Manipuri women the reason behind their campaign, one of them impolitely asked, "Why are you asking and what is your concern?" and said that they are the members of Shiv Shishya Pariwar, Manipur and that they are propagating the worship of Shiva.
One of the residents said that she has never come across such religious campaign till date.
The woman added, "Whatever it may be, when continuous drive to check the influx of illegal immigrants is underway, such activity by non-Manipuri women should be checked" .
