Imphal, June 28 2015 :
An awareness programme on palliative care was held today at Manipur Press Club under the aegis of the Palliative Care Society (PCS), Imphal.
PCS president Dr Kh Palin, PCS secretary Dr Jugindro and AMWJU president Wangkhemcha Shamjai attended the programme as presidium members.
Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr Jugindro said that around 100 members have been trained after the PCS Imphal was established on April 16 this year.
Dr Jugindro said that PCS members would go house to house and extend all possible help to people suffering from chronic and incurable diseases.
PCS Imphal would do everything within its capacity to relieve suffering and improve the quality of life of people living and dying with chronic and incurable illness.
PCS Imphal would start its mission within Thangmeiband A/C after identifying people who need palliative care.
If the mission is accomplished, PCS Imphal would expand its area of operation throughout the whole State, Dr Jugindro said.
Youngsters who have volunteered to join PCS Imphal would help in heralding a social change in the State, he exuded.
He also sought cooperation from the general public as well as the Government in the society's endeavour.
W Shamjai, while lauding the novel initiative of the PCS Imphal, assured all possible assistance from the side of AMWJU.
