Imphal, November 02 2010:
A mass rally on making education a free zone would be taken out at Imphal on November 10 under the aegis of a coordination committee formed by 16 student bodies and civil organisations.
Speaking to media persons at the Palace Compound office of the All Manipur Student Guardians' Organisation this afternoon, advisor of the organisation N Tomba lamented that there is no sign of relief from disturbances to education sector despite the campaign to make education a free zone.
The mass rally is being planned taking into account of such disturbing scenario.
Tomba further appealed to all people and students to join the rally.
Working president of the organisation N Chaoba observed that monetary demands and intimidation at educational institutions continue to vitiate academic atmosphere despite all the movements and voices to make education a free zone.
Moreover, many school buildings remain incomplete or lack quality due to tussle among contractors for securing the contract works and deduction of certain percentages from the funds sanction for building schools, he added.
