State logs 874 new cases, second highest deaths in July

As the onslaught of second wave of Covid-19 continues unabated in the state, Friday reported the second highest death toll for the month of July with 20 fatalities along with 874 new cases out of 6673 samples that were tested.
The highest single day fatality in the current month was recorded on July 13 with 22 deaths.
On the other hand, the highest ever single day Covid toll for the state was recorded on May 19 with 23 casualties.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, the state has recorded 20 or more single day death cases for five times.
Friday registered a positivity rate of 13.10 per cent against 15.03 per cent on Thursday.
So far, 68,298 new cases and 1167 fatalities have been recorded since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic in the state.
The current month saw addition of 27,908 new cases and 391 fatalities out of which 7436 new cases and 90 fatalities were reported in the last seven days alone.
Active caseload now stands at 10,735 out of which 4767 (44.41 per cent) are in home isolation, 2967 (27.64 per cent) in CHICs, 1983 (18.47 per cent) in CCCs and 1018 (9.48 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 141 patients are admitted to ICU/ HDU wards, 404 are on oxygen support and 64 on ventilator support.

On the other hand, 111 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Thursday night, 63 beds (21 ICU/HDU) are available in government hospitals, 92 beds (32 ICU/HDU) in private hospitals, 12 beds (3 ICU/HDU) in LF Covid Treatment Centre run by MSF, 132 beds (15 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals & CHCs, and 1253 beds in CCCs.
According to official reports, two of the new positive cases are personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the remaining 872 cases (439 male & 433 female) are from among the general population.
Their samples were tested at RIMS (42), JNIMS (32), District Hospitals (643) and other testing centres (157) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (171), Imphal West (252), Thoubal (49), Bishnupur (137), Kakching (75), Ukhrul (13), Churachandpur (84), Chandel (16), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (8), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (4), Noney (19), Pherzawl (1), Kangpokpi (27) and Kamjong (1) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 20 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided by the committee.
The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Imphal East (5), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (5), Ukhrul (1), Jiribam (1) and Chandel (1).The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1541.Four out of Friday's 20 victims had their first dose of vaccine while six persons did not have any comorbid conditions.
In the last 24 hours, 1014 patients were discharged from home isolation (436), RIMS (44), INIMS (13), CCCs (174) and CHICs (347).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 97,698 (general population - 93,721 and CAPF personnel - 3,977).Number of recovered cases is 85,422 (general population - 81,502 and CAPF personnel - 3,920) and number of active cases is 10,735 (general population - 10,683 and CAPF personnel - 52).The recovery rate is 87.43 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 2246 D-type and 308 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
Only 14,980 vaccine doses were administered on Thursday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 10,88,797 including 2,01,337 who have received both doses of Covid-19.As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (32,760), Imphal East (21,853), Thoubal (8210), Churachandpur (8299), Kangpokpi (2344), Tamenglong (2757), Bishnupur (7153), Senapati (1758), Ukhrul (1738), Kakching (5461), Chandel (1921), Noney (817), Tengnoupal (941), Jiribam (948), Kamjong (561) and Pherzawl (177).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (528), Imphal East (368), Thoubal (140), Churachandpur (132), Kangpokpi (49), Tamenglong (12), Bishnupur (144), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (19), Kakching (92), Chandel (28), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (10), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0) .
However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts as state health authority continues to ignore consistent appeals by the media for district-specific case status.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 31,485 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,645 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 3,48,203 tests per million population against the national average of 3,33,186 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.58 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 6673 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 13.10 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 9.04 per cent.
