Manipur sets new mark with 1032 positives, 17 deaths

Imphal, May 30 2021:
With 17 deaths, Manipur has yet again reported a record number of new Covid cases with as many as 1,032 testing positive in the last 24 hours.
This has taken the total number of Covid positive cases to 49,882 and raised the number of active cases to 8,482 .
The death toll, as per Government COVID-19 Common Control Room stands at 793 .
(This is excluding the deaths of a 7-year-old girl from Imphal West on May 25 and a 40-year-old man from Ukhrul on May 26) .
Yesterday, the Covid control room had reported 1,007 cases positive on testing 4,900 samples.
Notably, the record number of 1,032 fresh infections in the last 24 hours were detected while testing 6,393 samples, the highest number of tests conducted in a day so far.
This also means 16.14 per cent of the total samples tested positive for COVID-19 .
As per the Covid control room, the State has so far tested 7,12,778 samples.
A total of 3,82,352 people have been vaccinated against the disease so far.
563 Covid patients also recovered in the last 24 hours taking the number of total recovered cases to 40,607 .
The recovery rate stands at 81.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, the 1,032 fresh infections include 5 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force and 1,027 from the general population.
They tested positive for Covid at District Hospitals (454), private testing centres (365), JNIMS (163) and RIMS (50) .
The 1,027 cases (542 males and 485 females) from among the general population hail from Imphal West (310), Imphal East (281), Churachandpur (100), Thoubal (95), Bishnupur (78), Tamenglong (46), Kakching (36), Jiribam (25), Senapati (18), Tengnoupal (11), Ukhrul (10), Kamjong (9), Chandel (5), Kangpokpi (1), Noney (1) and Pherzawl (1) .
The 17 casualties due to Covid in the last 24 hours include eight women and nine men.
Four of them were below the age of 45.Imphal East and Churachandpur districts reported 5 deaths each while Imphal West reported 4 deaths.Kakching district reported 2 deaths while Ukhrul reported one.
The victims from Imphal East include a 49-year-old woman and men aged 54, 58, 63 and 97 years.
The victims from Churachandpur include a 61-year-old man and women aged 31, 35, 56 and 63 years.
The victims from Imphal West include a 71-year-old woman and men aged 42, 53 and 83 years.
The victims from Kakching were women aged 42 and 50 years.
The victim from Ukhrul was a 54-year-old man.
The 17 victims died at District Hospital Churachandpur (5), JNIMS (4), RIMS (3), Raj Medicity (2), Shija Hospital (1), Babina (1) and District hospital Ukhrul (1).On the other hand, the 563 persons who recovered in the last 24 hours include 414 who were under home isolation.
The remaining have been discharged from Covid Care Centres opened at Lamboikhongnangkhong (35), LANVA (16), RIMS (14), Ukhrul (12), SHRI (11), NSU (10), CAPF (10), Thoubal (8), Churachandpur (8), JNIMS (7), BB (6), Bishnupur (5), Tengnoupal (4), Jivan Hospital (3), Kangpokpi (3) and Chandel (1).The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 49,882 (general population-46,125 and Central security personnel-3,757) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 40,607 (general population-36,902 and Central security personnel-3,705) .
The number of active cases is 8,482 (general population-8,435 and Central security personnel-47) .
In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,875 D-type oxygen cylinders and 512 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different healthcare institutions in the State, said the Covid control room.
