COVID-19 claims one more, death tally now stands at 25

Imphal, August 26 2020:
COVID-19 has infected 141 persons and claimed one more life in the last 24 hours raising the death toll in the State due to the virus to 25 .
The total number COVID-19 cases has reached 5585 .
The latest victim, a 65-year-old female from Imphal West district expired at JNIMS today.
Sources at the hospital said that the woman was admitted at JNIMS on August 20 and had comorbid health conditions.
She was suffering from diabetes and hypertension, added the source.

According to a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 141 persons including 25 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
Of the 116 civilians who tested positive for COVID-19, 114 of them have no significant travel history.
The 116 civilians hail from Imphal West (57), Imphal East (32), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (4), Churachandpur (3), Kakching (1), Senapati (1), Noney (3) and Kangpokpi (1) .
Only 2 persons (out of 3) from Noney district are returnees and the remaining 114 civilians have no significant travel history.
They are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres and precautionary measures like contact tracing are in place, said the report.
On the other hand, 17 persons have been discharged after recovery from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.
They were discharged from CAPF (8), RIMS (8) and RD Wing (1) after testing negative for COVID-19 on RT PCR test.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 5585 including 4129 civilians and 1456 Central security personnel.
The number of recovered cases has reached 3829 including 3163 civilians and 666 security personnel.
The recovery rate now stands at 68.55 percent.
The number of active cases is 1731 including 942 civilians and 789 security personnel, said the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Meanwhile, a late report from sources at Imphal West district administration said as many as 84 new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the district today.
The 84 cases include 28 from Thangmeiband Muji-khul, 8 from Paona bazar area, 5 from Sapam Leikai, 3 each from Tera Khuraijam Leirak and Thangal bazar.
They also include 5 CRPF personnel, 1 personnel of Singjamei Police Station, 1 traffic policeman, 1 personnel of Imphal West Reserve Line and 2 from Commando Complex.
In Thoubal, 8 persons tested positive for COVID-19 on RAT (Rapid Antigen Test) .
In addition, 19 COVID-19 positive cases were detected at JNIMS when testing 550 samples today, said sources.
