Highest single day surge of 448 in 2022 logged

Imphal, January 20 2022:
Highest spike on a single day so far this year with 448, high daily positivity rate of 15.2 percent and two deaths marked the Covid map in Manipur in the last 24 hours.
The single day highest spike this year came even as the State Government has ironically decided to do away with the roster system and instead allow all shops to open at Thangal Keithel and Paona Keithel on all days except Sunday and increase the duration of letting the shops remain open by two more hours from 7 am to 5 pm .
As in the past many days, Imphal East, Imphal West and Churachandpur make up the bulk of the 488 positive cases, with the three districts accounting for 356 cases, including Central security personnel.
With the addition of 448 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases has gone up to 1,28,278 including 4465 Central security personnel.
The number of deaths too has gone up to 2017 now with the addition of two more.
The deceased persons belonged to Imphal East (1) and Imphal West (1), said the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The two deceased persons had co-morbidities and none of them had been vaccinated.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room in its daily update today said that a total of 448 persons tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
This includes 33 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force.
The positive status of the 448 persons were confirmed during testing conducted at RIMS (62), JNIMS (75) and other testing centres (311) .
The 415 positive cases from amongst the civilians are from Imphal East (72), Imphal West (201), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (9), Kangpokpi (7), Jiribam (22), Ukhrul (2), Tamenglong (4), Senapati (4), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (66) .
The 448 positive cases were detected from a total sample of 2944 to take the daily positivity rate in the State to 15.2 percent.
Churachandpur district tops the daily positivity rate with 24.5 percent, Kakching (24 percent) Imphal East (19.1 percent), Imphal West (17.1 percent), Jiribam (16.7 percent), Bishnupur (16.1 percent) and Thoubal (10.7 percent) .
Noney, Pherzawl and Tengnoupal did not report any new positive case in the last 24 hours.
In the last 24 hours 66 persons were discharged from home isolation (30), RIMS (5), JNIMS (2) and CCCs (29) to take the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,24,278 including 4465 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate stands at 96.58 percent.
Jiribam continues to top the vaccinate table with 59.54 percent of the eligible people having received their second dose followed by Imphal West 59.12 percent and Imphal East 54.81 percent.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 147 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 14 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State.
