The State COVID-19 death toll has climbed to 109 following the death of five persons at RIMS, Shija Hospital, Raj Medicity and JNIMS during the last 24 hours.
Two males, aged 54 and 56, belonging to Tamenglong and Imphal East respectively died at JNIMS.
Two females, aged 74 and 70, both residents of Imphal East succumbed to the COVID-19 at RIMS and Raj Medicity during the last 24 hours.
Further, one 56-year old woman from Thoubal died of the virus at Shija Hospital, according to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang.
The 53 year old woman who passed away after she was first admitted to RIMS following acute stomach pain and later shifted to Covid Care Centre at IIIT Mantripukhri after testing positive for COVID-19 is yet to be officially added to the number of COVID-19 related deaths.
She passed away on October 15 .
The spokesman informed that 337 persons including 33 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West, Swiss Clinic, Senapati, Noney, Chandel, Shija Hospital, Babina Diagnostics, Raj Medicity, CMC, Jivan Hospital, Kangpokpi, Maipakpi Hospital, Teng-noupal, Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, Ukhrul, Advance Hospital, Mothers Care and Tamenglong.
This is the highest surge on a single day.
Of the 304 civilians who have been tested positive, 55 belong to Imphal West, 113 to Imphal East, seven to Thoubal, one to Noney, three to Kangpokpi, 33 to Kakching, eight to Ukhrul, 20 to Chandel, 19 to Tamenglong, nine to Churachandpur, 15 to Tengnoupal, 12 to Senapati and nine to Bishnupur.
Out of them, 296 have no significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 164 COVID-19 positive persons have been discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (35), home isolation (26), RIMS (3), JNIMS (7), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (26), Noney (3), RD Wing (4), CCC UNACCO (19), Sadbhavna (15), Lanva (8), Jiribam (1), Thoubal (5), Moreh (2), Ukhrul (3) and Kakching (7) .
The cumulative figure of positive cases has reached 14,715 (general population 12,095, Central security personnel 2,620) .
It includes 3,361 active cases (general population 3,018, Central security personnel 343) and 11,245 discharged cases (general population 8,972, Central security personnel 2,273) .
The recovery rate stands at 76.41 per cent.
A late report informed that 120 samples out of 506 tested today at JNIMS were found infected by the contagion.
16 other people were also found positive after rapid antigen test at Thoubal.
One individual staying at the Chief Minister's bungalow was among 117 people tested positive in Imphal West district today.
Out of them, 20 are residents of Uripok Bachaspati Leikai while 10 belong to Malom Bazar and five to Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai.
